|
|
Okay, I was hoping that I could get clarification on some of the aspects of portage. First, I just did a portage tree sync, and am not getting the following package listings.
Code: | [ebuild U-] sys-devel/bin86-0.16.0 [0.15.5]
[ebuild U-] sys-libs/lib-compat-1.1 [1.0-r2] |
I understand that the U- means that there is an upgrade, but no previous installation information (i.e. an injecttion). Are these packages injected during the initial Gentoo install? Why would these two packages not have previous information? What will happen to the portage information after I update? Will it still keep 0.15.5 in a slot for instance? I just want to understand what I'll be doing to my system :-)
Secondly, I have installed GNUCash 1.8.1 with a custom ebuild onto my system. Now that a new ebuild has been posted in the portage tree for 1.6.1 the system wants to downgrade to that ebuild. Is there a way to set a slot to hold status, sort of like holding a package in debian's apt?
Code: | [ebuild UD] app-office/gnucash-1.6.8 [1.8.1] |
Thanks in advance! |

im pretty sure that if you open your world file, in /var/cache/edb/world, and find the gnucash entry and add an = infront of it, so it looks like:
Code: | =app-office/gnucash-1.6.8 |
it should fix that for you.
im not 100% though, im pretty new to gentoo myself |
