|
|
I found this ebuild submission in the bugzilla: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17599
It says: Quote: | adds zope support for groups |
What is "groups"? Let's try to find it out.
The ebuild refers to http://www.zope.org/Members/faassen/Groups
That page, in its own turn, says: Quote: | Groups is a Zope product that adds Group support to Zope. |
Is it a problem with only my English or I am not alone who cannot understand what is this package/product about? |

Groups seems to be for use on top of Silva
"Silva is a completely browser based publication system for creating publications for the web, paper, and other media"
The "groups" you find seem to be for group management (for access and process flow control I assume) with or without LDAP.
Hope that helps. (I know it's all rather vague...)

"access control" and LDAP make me to think about groups of users.
My own "guessing" list was including: groups of users, groups of text elements (structured text), groups of properties (like attributes in LDAP), groups of files (usually called folders), groups of functions (navigation).
You see how many groups (different types of groups) can be. Now you understand why I've asked my question.
My next question: how are groups different from roles? In Zope we do have roles. What kind of functionality is not possible or is difficult with roles vs groups |

I think, it's more how groups are used by Silva for its own processes. (I think.) |
