Every time I try to upgrade any packages, portage wants to downgrade my nvidia 4191 series drivers to the 3123 series. Is there any way to disable this? I can't even upgrade mplayer without having to uninstall 4191, install 3123, upgrade mplayer, uninstall 3123 and install 4191. It's annoying... Is there any way to remove it from the auto-update list (world?) |

Remove it from /var/cache/edb/world, but this won't help if you do a "emerge --deep -u world" unless it's no dependency for any package... |

try my patch "patch for mixing stable/unstable" https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=39902.
Thats exactly my problem. Seems to work like a charm, it got the newest version of nvidia (r2) today.
btw, its portage 2.0.47-r7... |

Thank you codemode! It works great, I even added my other unstable programs. You should get the devs to incorporate this into portage! |

Look at the --upgradeonly option. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I mailed an improved version (with specific architectures) to Nick Jones (carpaski), I hope he'll accept it...
I'm glad somebody appreciates my idea (the coding was not really hard work). |
