I am getting really slow up and down speeds after installing gentoo. Getting around ~15 KB/s transfer speeds, sometimes it goes up to ~25 KB/s and sometimes it slows to 2-3 KB/s.
This if my ifconfig output:

There seem to be a lot of errors.
Can anyone help?
Thanks. |

This sounds like a kernel issue. Are you positive you're using the correct driver module? Did you compile the NIC driver with some experimental features (such as MMIO instead of PIO on an unsupported card, and the like)? Finally, does the same thing happen when you boot from the LiveCD? _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

Yes the same thing happens when booting off the LiveCD, I am using Genkernel on this machine.
This is what lsmod shows:

Does the used by = 0 corresponding to the 3c59x module mean it's not in use? |

Oh, 3c59x. Good luck with that one. I had some cards that simply refused to cooperate with that driver - they would work for a few packets then they'd randomly drop or they'd stop to work at all. That was with any kernel, including the 2.4 series. They worked perfectly in Windows. Then again, some other Vortex cards worked just fine.
I ended up exchanging them for Realteks. Never had any problems with those. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

Anyone have a suggestion besides getting a new network card? |

I'd get an intel based card.. they are the best. 1Gbit cards can be had for ~$30 off ebay. |
