well,
i just got a crashed kicker on my ultra 5. i re-emerged xorg, glibc (home of libpthread), I realy have no idea any more (well, the box just building kde via kde's own ports/portages derivate called konstruct, i hope its just a gentoo issue and not a valid kde issue, anyway, i like to have up and running ;-) ).
That the error i got when kicker tries to comes up and crash down :

(the first is german, but it says exactly the same as : This backtrace appears to be of no use. ....)
...followed by :
(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

(no debugging symbols found)
(no debugging symbols found)
... this a little bit repeated .....
... followed by ....

#3 0x7185f674 in __pthread_clock_settime () from /lib/libpthread.so.0

thats my clflags :
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=ultrasparc"

well, i habe absolutly no glue any more why it happens.
Any hint welcome,
thanks in advance
cheers frank

A longshot, but does

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88806

have anything to do with what you observed?

It's been discussed awhile ago:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-264155.html

I think it's not due to ALSA, but rather the timer applet -- caused by QT crashes.

thanks,

it seems that trolltech changes something with threadhandling, possibly controled by the timer.
well, with qt 3.2 it runed well.
