I'm getting pretty desperate right now. Practically the whole day i have been trying to play videos with mplayerplug-in (most of the time 0.4.0, but i have also tried cvs 0.5.0, and that did not work too) within Konqueror (3.1.0).

Let's take http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/about_schmidt/ for example.

When i try to view the MEDIUM version of the trailer, there seems to be no problem. But if i want to view the large version it suddenly quits after a few seconds, giving the following output in the mplayer 'console' (using mplayerplug-in 0.5.0 <latest>):

Code:

MPlayer 0.90rc4-3.2.2 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS)

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: decode_video
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
  disassembly. For details, see DOCS/bugreports.html#crash.b.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc
version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html
and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide
this information when reporting a possible bug.

This seems very odd to me. I use the standard mplayer.conf with the FS = NO option and mplayerplug-in.conf with USE-GUI=NO. I have a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX460 (asus V8170Pro) installed using the 'NVIDIA user guide' (NVdriver module) NVIDIA located at gentoo.org, the card seems to function well since i have no problems using it with KDE3.1 or any other (graphical) applications.

When i use a mozilla-based browser, such as phoenix, with the same mplayerplug-in version to view the LARGE version of the trailer it works and kmplayer pops up (outside browser frame, where it actually should be 'in') starting to play.

I searched through the forum, but i never found the exact solution to my problem. I hope someone could help me out. Thanks in advance.

Go to [url]mplayerplug-in.sf.net[/url] and read how to set your cache. I've found setting it to 2megs usually makes all of the larger streaming videos play fine.

mplayer sets a default cache of 8129kb (= 8 megabytes), i have tried other cache settings. This appears not to be the problem.
