Diff link: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/darkpatches/patch-2.6.11.7-dark3.patch.bz2?download
Unsupported reiser4 diff: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/darkpatches/reiser4.diff?download
Reiser4 is completely unsupported and that diff is quite old and might not even work, I'm not held respondsable for any damage caused by the use of reiser4 etc etc etc.

On a completely unrelated note, heres the latest prerelease of what I've been scripting lately.

No problem, also I'm already working on a 2.6.11.7-dark4 release now, which will feature the new staircase 11.

Edit: dark4 to be named Pitch Black, after the Vin Diesel sci-fi. Also, chronicles of riddick SUCKED. Pitch Black > Chronicles of Riddick.

It wasn't that good, but I do agree that Pitch Black was better. Problem was that Chronicles had to 'live up' to the standard set by Pitch Black, yet be a completely different movie. The whole necrophiliac race was just a bad idea, but they had to have some form of original enemy.

The staircase single priority array foreground/background cpu scheduler has
been updated to version 11.

Numerous minor behavioural issues have been abolished with a much cleaner
simple mathematical priority elevation/dropping mechanism and virtually no
"interactivity estimation" algorithms exist in the design. Behaviour across
all loads appears to have been improved with this.

Worst case latencies have been much improved with in-kernel work on behalf of
user processes being debited from the user processes.

Lots of micro-optimisations were added and throughput has improved.

All forms of gaming and audio issues appear to have been abolished.

I really look forward to this.

Full announcement by Con.

I'm currently running staircase 11 right now and so far, all appears to be good.

Just 'good' or better than before?

I do have issues with audio occasionally skipping (2.6.11-nitro2) so I'm interested to see if things improve with the update.

It feels much better then before and amazingly, even when the load on my system goes all the way to the top and I'm doing IO intensive things, my system responds perfectly. I haven't experianced audio skips since staircase 10.4 though.

could you add the 'hardware tapping' patch from gentoo-sources to your patchset? with the 2.6.11.* series, the kernel shuts off my hardware tapping ability on my laptop. it is fixed in 2.6.12, and in the gentoo-sources.

I'm done with testing of dark4 right now and preparing to release at this very moment, adding that patch now would mean more time for testing, what I'll do is after releasing, create an addon patch to dark and you can then use that so I don't have to delay dark4 due to more testing.
