Heya,
I installed Gentoo a while ago and everything has gone pretty well, I'm impressed with the performance but recently, when I've tried to merge some packages (gimp most importantly) I've run into this problem.
Gimp (any many others) depend on esound. When I try to merge it I get errors:
Code: |
configure: error: Could not find a support sound driver
!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 32, Exitcode 1
!!! (no error message)

Obviously asoundlib or some other headers are not found. However, they're installed and can be found in /usr/include/alsa. Installed alsa packages are as follows:
Code: |
# pkglist | grep alsa
media-libs/alsa-lib-0.9.0_rc1
media-sound/alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc1-r7
media-sound/alsa-utils-0.9.0_rc1
media-sound/alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc2
|
The versions doesn't match and if I try to rebuild alsa-lib it tells me it cannot find right version of alsa-driver (needs 0.9.0 or newer). What am I doing wrong? I've tried to play with the USE variables, tested everything with or without alsa flag but no success so far, getting a bit frustrated here.. guess it's something obvious I just doesn't know
Help much appreciated. |

It has been a long time since you posted that
I had the same problem, but i found a very quick fix.
I was to fast at uninstalling some header-files from my machine
emerge linux-headers should fix your problem _________________ -this is a signature |
