Looks like your make.conf file is wrong. Change the -march=i386 to -mpcu=ultrasparc.

Here is the CFLAGS line from my Ultra5:

Code:
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=ultrasparc -fomit-frame-pointer"

Hm, well make.conf should always be in /etc. As for silo.conf the manual says (or used to say) that the working copy is in /boot and that you should keep a copy of it in /etc in case /boot gets blown away.

Until you get a working kernel and get it to boot and mount. I am assuming that you have to boot from the CD everytime to get back into the box.

That would mean you have to mount everything manually and then chroot into it.

Then you will see that your silo.conf and everythng should be in the right place.

If you didn't change the I386 flag in the make.conf, it will definetly error out. I made that mistake myself long time ago.
