Hi All,
I'm trying to do an installation on an Ultra 5.
I'm using the minimal 2005 CD
I'm up to the stage of "emerge --sync" After chrooting per the installation manual.
However I keep seeing the following error message. My SPARC is behind a firewall
but I also have a Blade 100 as well & I'm having no problems sync'ing on that box.
TIA
receiving file list ...
115556 files to consider
metadata/
io timeout after 180 seconds - exiting
rsync error: timeout in data send/receive (code 30) at io.c(109)
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (2571403 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(189)
!!! Rsync has not successfully finished. It is recommended that you keep
!!! trying or that you use the 'emerge-webrsync' option if you are unable
!!! to use rsync due to firewall or other restrictions. This should be a
!!! temporary problem unless complications exist with your network
!!! (and possibly your system's filesystem) configuration. |

You probably already found the answer to your problem, but what was affecting me was that the Gentoo LiveCD uses IPv6 by default and it didn't agree with my firewall (IPv6 is not enabled).
Once I booted with as a boot option I stopped getting those same error messages on a x86 system. |
