so after asking for help from this forum https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=37554&highlight=ssh+x11, I got X11 port-forwarding to work by adding a line for localhost to my sshd_config file. Last night, I was ssh'ed into my box from my parent's house, using X11 port-forwarding, and everything was working like a charm. Today, it won't work. When I log in using ssh -X and then try to use emacs, I get the following:
Code: |
johnlyon@lyon ccode $ emacs helloworld.c &
[1] 7555
johnlyon@lyon ccode $ emacs: Cannot connect to X server localhost:10.0.
Check the DISPLAY environment variable or use `-d'.
Also use the `xhost' program to verify that it is set to permit
connections from your machine.

Does anyone have any ideas why X suddenly stopped working? I'm right now clueless, because as far as I know, nothing changed. I checked my config files, but nothing was differnet (indeed, I had not even edited any system files, but figured I'd check just to make sure). I didn't change any settings, so I'm actually kind of clueless as to why it would suddenly stop working for me.[/url] _________________ -Rajl
