Ik wil alle PCs bij mij thuis gaan "converten" naar Gentoo. Maar omdat voor sommige familileden de stap van Windows naar Linux iets te moelijk zal zijn, wil ik KDE 3.x (het liefst 3.1) in het Nederlands als desktop gebruiken. Google leverde niet zoveel op (of misschien zoek ik gewoon verkeerd). Nu is m'n vraag; hoe krijg ik KDE in het Nederlands.

Gewoon na het emergen van kde
Code:

emerge kde-i18n-nl


en dan de language settings in kde aanpassen in het control panel.

Indien je de overgang niet te bruusk wil maken heb ik nog wel een leuk alternatief voor je familie namelijk xpde. Dat is een windowsmanager met de look van windows xp :)

Voor mensen die wel eens XPDE willen proberen (ik ken het zelf ook niet), het is te installeren met het commando:

emerge rsync && emerge x11-wm/xpde


PS: op het moment is het nog steeds masked

hello ik heb de XPDE eens geemerged (uit nieuwschierigheid) hij staat niet in de KDM (het lijstje) want moet ik nu doen, ik heb een nagekeken op hun site en de tutorial staat er juist op in het spaans of zoiets dus ja :)

Ik ga er vanuit dat je een engelstalige kde 3.1 hebt, anders zeg je het maar.
Doe het volgende:
-Open een console
-Ga naar de dir "/etc/X11/Sessions" ("cd /etc/X11/Sessions")
-Bekijk hier de bestanden ("ls")
-Zoek hier het bestand dat het meeste op xpde lijkt en onthoud de naam (Indien hier niets bijstaat dat op xpde lijkt zeg het dan.)
-Start kde
-Ga naar het "Control Center" (K>Settings>Control Center)
-Ga naar System Administration>Login Manager
-Klik daar op Administrator Mode (root password wordt gevraagd)
-Kies nu de tab Sessions
-Typ de naam van het bestand dat je daarjuist hebt gevonden in in het tekstvak ''New type" onder de titel "Session Types"
-Klik nu op "Add New" en dan op "Apply"
