Hi

I like this CD but unfortunately I have an LCD display so when I try and boot up with the default profile it tries to set the monitor to refresh at 85hz which is no good for LCD's is it possible to set it to 75hz instead or at least have an option for it this would make it compatible rather than having to set it to VESA mode

Cheops.

I just want to ask for the inclusion of the cpqarray module in the kernel. It's very usefull for servers with compaq raid arrays ;)

Ah! Now we know that even some developers find the RR4 CD useful! :D

no problem for cpqarray if it's in the vanilla kernel. I'll add as a module.

I have some good news about amd64 support..... a preliminary screenshot :) Porting RR4 to amd64 was a little bit hard for me.
It's based on 2.20 but now I'm updating it to 2.40 :)

It's RR4 AMD64 LiveDVD in alpha stage (don't look at missing icons :p)...
RR4 AMD64 final will have a brand new look, like x86 2.40 LiveDVD

cheops05's request would be nice - the LiveCD doesn't work with my LCD unless I replace xorg.conf
Most LCDs use 60Hz, I think .. Mine (LG1720P) can do 75Hz only with the analog connection, not with DVI.

When do you think the 2.40 x86 LiveDVD is going to be ready ? A couple of days, a couple of weeks ?

Thanks !

Hey lxnay,

Just stopping by to add something to your workload, if u hadn't thought of it allready: it would be nice to use the 2005.0 profile for the amd64 livecd, as it is released for this arch ;-)
And plz include support for intel's emt64...

My wishlist has been added :-D

Thnx a lot for all of your hard work!!

P.s.: I totally agree with u... KDE 3.4 rocks my desktop bigtime!!! Composite rules!!!

So a cd will not be made? I don't have access to a dvd burner, and I don't need KDE and gnome on a live cd. I just need a cd with reiser4 1.0.4 on it without X, could you please make a minimal cd, it would be greatly appreciated, because right now my computer is a state of limbo. eworms cd would be perfect for me, but he didn't make a tulip module for my network card rendering it useless for me.

Thank you

Another hands up request for the live CD to be retained... please... :)

Maybe slim it down to include KDE or Gnome only, for example?

Yeah yeah, will be awful wonderful... Tomorrow I'll post some nice screens of 2.40 livedvd for x86.
I promise it, after 2.40 livedvd there will be the AMD64 version (I have compiled it with -march=k8).

2.40 will be ready in one week

Solved in 2.40. Max refresh will be 75Hz.

Hi lxnay and thx a lot for your work :)

Could you tell me how you can get automatically icon of device on the desktop ? I'm running kde and all my devices appears in the Devices applet but not on the desktop. I'm using hald+dbus+udev. In fact, i would like to have exactly the same desktop that on the rr4 live-cd 2.30 with kde3.4. I've downlaoded icons Gartoons but it's a little bit different, especially with devices icon (usb key etc...).
Thank you ;)

right click on the desktop, then configure desktop. Search device icons in this menu :)

Ok that works thank you :D

Now i want that the "device program" make the difference betweek usb device and hard disk. Because it gives the same icon for my MMC_Card that for my HD. Maybe because i'm using kde 3.3 and this function isn't integrated ?

EDIT: Maybe if u need amd64 help, i could help you :)

some screenshots short for 2.40. I'm bug fixing, choosing the kernel and adding openoffice 2.0.

Nice shots, indeed .. but a little bit minimalistic background, for purpose? :) ... i have some experience in photoshop, blender and The Gimp .. if there are some logo-templates or whatsoever i could try something ...

and eehm now something completly different :D .. how far still to go? .. three more days? More? .. its that i just want to setup my new system using Reiser4 .. if 2.40 is not published so soon, would it be a good idea to use the 2.30 to install gentoo 2005.0 and just compile a not supported kernel? is that an option that you would consider? .. whats the best way? thank you guys :)

and ehm i don't think bad of my that i offer it along with my anoying questions :D .. but when 2.40 is out i can provide a fast mirror in germany for at least one month and about 400 GB traffic that i can spare ..

well than have a nice day

mana you're my saviour!. I'm including OpenOffice 2.0 beta right now. 2.40 LiveDVD will be approx 1,7GB big (:D), so your german ftp would be great!. Then, if you want to hack the wallpaper, please send me an e-mail with your mail address :). 2.40 will be a much more tested and stable release than ever (I hope!).

The last thing is picking a decent kernel, nitro-2.6.11-r2 doesn't have a working fbsplash.... :(
