|
|
I've upgraded Gentoo from 1.2 to 1.4 and now 'fetchyahoo.pl' does not forward emails to my local box. It just keep eating everything. It does append to a spool file thou...
I guess some packages used by Fetchyahoo (MailTools come to mind) are not compatible with Perl 5.8, but how do I test it? (I have no experience with Perl.) NOTE: I have upgraded every package on this box with:
Code: | sudo emerge `find /var/db/pkg -mindepth 2 -maxdepth 2 | sed -e 's,/var/db/pkg/\(.*\),=\1,'` |
I'm using Postfix and Cyrus-IMAPd for mail delivery.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Norberto |

Moving from Desktop Environments.
If the packages are not compatible and you have no pressing reason to upgrade Perl, then I would just go back to using the Perl version that works. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

That's the only 'problem' with running the latest and the greatest. It sometimes takes a week or so for those new packages to settle down and learn to play nice with the rest of the system. Give Perl 5.8.0 another try next week this time and I bet it'll be purring like a kitten. Unless of course there's something in your perl script that's simply been deprecated by the language or something. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

I am also running postfix/cyrus/fetchyahoo on perl 5.8. It works the same as it ever did. Have you tried recompiling all of you perl modules? There was a script in another thread that automagicaly did this. You could also try thhe last version of fetchyahoo if you're not already. It may have some fixes for perl 5.8. There's nothing wrong with 5.6, you could just run that and avoid thhe trouble.

Yes.

There's one in /usr/portage/sys-devel/perl/files (from memory.) I didn't run it, I just rebuild the whole system.

I'm using the one in portage (2.4.)
I'm currently downgrading to Perl 5.6.1, and re-emerging every package that requires Perl. I'll give Perl 5.8 a new try next week.
Many thanks,

I don't use procmail myself, but use-forward=1 in ~/.fetchyahoorc.
