|

Here's is what I need to achieve... This should be easy for you mail gurus!
The facts:
1. I can control all my DNS records adding deleteing records is no problem
2. I have a static IP
3. I have no need for pop as pop is hosted externally (And if I move mail hosting internally Ill get a Domino server, yay!!!)
4. The ISP that I want to switch doesn't have a smtp server that I can use for free
What I want to do:
1. Set up client machines on the LAN to use this.gentoo.box.ip as the SMTP server. So they can send to any email address.
What I think might be right:
1. Add a reverse lookup for my static IP as mail.domain.org
2. Install (sendmail, qmail, or postfix, or other)
3. Setup one of the previous to send mail only (relay?)
4. Disable recieve
Am I on the right track?
If I am going about this the right way then I can lookup info on how to setup the package I need but I feel like maybe I'm missing something.
Thanx |

That should fine. One thing to remember is to create a MX record for $mail.domain.com to point to the server that actually receives your mail so bounces end up where they belong.
