sorry if I posted to the wrong forum - should probably be in MOST DUMB ACTION EVER SECTION...
Oh man,
I just followed the hint for adding the env ALSA_CARDS=""... part of the ALSA-documentation into my make.conf, missed one of the '>'-signes in the command and replaced my make.conf with the line:
intel8x0
now that's great
Has anybody a clue where to get a new make.conf (I might remember my changes by any chance...).
Or can you post yours so I can copy the parts of interest.

try:
/usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files/portage-rescue-2.0.44-x86.tbz2 (*portage version may be different)
there is a make.conf in there
maybe check here too.
EDIT, actually, that thread I linked to, uh, ignore it if you want, didn't have the stuff in it I thought it did. |

recreated my make.conf and also installed some bash - backup script to auto-backup stuff like that
