emerge does not update modules.dep

my use

USE ="X -gnome -kde -qt -arts trusted apm pnp xmms nocardbus wavelan"

my action
emerge pcmcia-cs

my problem
modules.dep
was not modufied my the emerge ... and so
modprobe pcmcia_core
modprobe i82365
modprobe ds
could not be successfull

my solution
doing the install of pcmcia-cs by hand ( not via emerge)

ny question
why does the emerge doesn't modify the modules.dep ???
did I missed something ??

You can run update-modules and that should update modules.dep. Seems to me that the ebuild should do this on its own but mayby there's a reason.
