Hi folks,
I'm just installing and I wonder whether it's safe to use -march=athlon with a duron cpu about a year old or so ... ?
Thanks and greetings,
One. |

Durons < 1ghz = athlon-tbird
Durons >= 1ghz = athlon-xp |

hmm, that's interesting news, i've got a duron 800 and used "athlon" until now. could you point out any ressource for this information? i googled around a while without finding anything useful.
furthermore, to ask a stupid question:
what's "athlon" for anyway then? just athlon or some durons, too?
thanks,
amne |

I didn't relize that any durons used the palamino core. |

Athlon-xp and newer Duron chips support sse instructions.
Older Athlon and Duron chips do not.
That is the main difference as far as compiling is concerned.
Code: | # cat /proc/cpuinfo |
Look for : mmx, 3dnow, sse ... |

The original Duron core was "Spitfire", the one with SSE and thermal diode is "Morgan". |
