glibc is the package that contains libpthread. Hope that helps.

I am curious why you want glibc reemerged because of libpthread....

thanks, drakonite.
the reason are the following two error messages https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=36977&highlight= when trying to emerge mrproject and ksplash-lm respectively.
would you have any idea on how to solve my problem here? i'd really appreciate any help i could get!

regards,
thomas.

I'm not sure what the problem is but you might want to check your optimizations.

Reinstalling libpthread probably won't help at all.

thanks for your help. it really shouldn't be a problem of my optimizations though, since i'm using gentoo's default optimizations.
