Can anyone tell me how to tell Linux not to try and use any fancy fonts or framebuffers on a C200 PA-8200 Workstation?

It seems like the liveCD boots just fine, but I just get a blank screen!
Surely I can tell Linux not to boot into any framebuffer mode, but just to output plain text to the system console?

OK, found a solution that worked for me.

now the thing is this, you have to know what monitor you are using on your box, i did this

ADMIN_PROMPT >
CO
MO
shows a list of monitors, look at the numbers, and you will see 0-3, select the number with your monitor next to it

then in the config for IPL edit the line
sti=8/0 to sti=8/x (insert monitor number here, for me it was 3, and all is now working.)

im extracting my stage file and about to compile the OS... ^.^

Are you sure your framebuffer is supported? This may not be the case -- there are some graphic chipsets out there that no-one (other than the makers) knows anything about.
(the XZ graphics on SGI Indy and Indigo2 systems is one example)

Have you tried using serial console? (Note... I've never used HPPA ever... so I can't help you much here)
