I have a relatively stupid and simple question that was possibly addressed in the forums but I cannot locate it. I have Gentoo RC2 installed in my desktop but I cannot get my scsi cdrom nor scsi cdrw working. I have SCSI Adaptect 2940 card (Bios v.1.34.3) connected to a Toshiba cdrom drive and a Yamaha cdrw drive. I compiled the latest kernel with the scsi options (no modules) but cdrecord -scanbus does not recognize it.

Does anyone have any step by step approach to getting scsi cdroms and cdrs recognized under Gentoo?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Did you remember to compile the low-level scsi drivers for your card?

do you see the drives detected on bootup? I.e. does the output of your dmesg see them?
