|
|
The 2 most recent times I've installed gentoo I have been locked out of the console. root has access, but no other user does.
I can ssh in no problem, just when I try and login through a monitor + keyboard attached i get this
Code: |
login: sharpie
Password:
login:
|
no errors nothing. Also When I look at /var/log/everything/current for that session, it just says
Code: | [login(pam_unix)] session opened for user sharpie by (uid=0) |
Anyhelp would be wonderful thanks guys |

you probably dont have the shell specified for the user. Try Code: | usermod -s /bin/bash |

When I try to run top from my non-root user when i'm sshed in I get this..
$ top
Illegal instruction
Could this mean that I used the wrong compile options. most other programs i've tried work. Any thought would be great |
