I need a good OCR program that will run under gentoo. google search turns up ClaraOCR from the GNU folks, while there is gocr in the gentoo portage directory. Will either one run ok under gentoo? Is there one that is generally more widely accepted as an OCR program, and is one more accurate than the other?
thanks,

In general, all linux software should run on gentoo. It not being in portage doesn't mean much more than no one has written an ebuild for it. |

I have used gocr. It's not easy (in my hands) to set it up so that it actuallly produces readable text, especially in other languages than English.
In short: I was not impressed.
I don't know clara. |
