Ok here is the deal.
- Sendmail is running on the box. - not configured to use IMAP server
- Cyrus-imapd installed - not configured
- SquirrelMail installed - not configured
I need to setup imapd, then configure sendmail to work with it and then (easy part) configure SquirrelMail which I know I can do.
Anyone had goen trhough this setup before ? I really need help as I'm totally lost. |

You big problem is going to be getting Cyrus working.
Cyrus is a BEAST with scrappy documentation. Here are some of the resources I used...
A HOWTO
http://www.delouw.ch/linux/postfix.phtml
The Cyrus FAQ
http://asg.web.cmu.edu/cyrus/imapd/install-FAQ.html
The Cyrus mailing list
majordomo@lists.andrew.cmu.edu
Also as ever there are the man pages.
I had a HELL of a time getting Cyrus to work. It's not easy, even by Linux standards. If all you want is a IMAP server consider uw-imap.... it's much easyer and is only missing a few of the features of Cyrus. |

cyrus imapd is actually quite easy to install and there is quite good documentation floating around...
the problem is .. cyrus-SASL has absolute crappy documentation, and troubleshooting it is *HARD* .. I often end up stracing the processes to see whats happening bc of missing debug output :S |

Yes. SASL is a huge pain, far bigger than cyrus-imapd alone. |
