It could have something to do with your USE flags.

gmplayer requires the gtk libraries to build.

Do you have gtk installed?

Hope it helps

ok it works .

An other question

during the emerge the mplayer is compile with MMX and MMX2 , not with SSE and SSE2

Do you know if it's better for video performance to compile with SSE and SSE2 ?

thanks

There is also kmplayer, the kde gui. But I don't know if it has less/more/different features, I never tried gmplayer...

the rigth command to read a dvd is

Code:

mplayer -dvd 2 --dvd-device /dev/cdrom

I have this folowing error
Code:

Encrypted VOB file (not compiled with libcss support)

During the emerge I saw libdvdcss-1.2.3.tar.gz who was compiled !!

Ok, the SSE / SSE2 issue is dependant on your architecture.

If you have a P3 or higher, the SSE and SSE2 should be probed and installed.

As for the libdvdcss issue, I'm not exactly sure (I don't have a dvd-rom oe even had an oppurtunity to experiment with one - I'm buying one next month though )

If I find anything, i'll post it here

I'm finding that gmplayer flips the image on avi files but
that things work properly with mplayer

Weird huh?

mplayer has an option to flip the image, if you use it from the CLI, you have to pass it as a parameter, but if you use gmplayer, there's an option in the preferences dialog to activate this, maybe you have that set, so gmplayer will flip the picture

you could try adding dvd to your USE flags to see if that helps.
