Got this error when trying to recompile KDE 3.1 (latest). Have "emerged rsync" and tried again. Same error.
Any ideas folks?

This seems to be an error caused by your USE flags maybe.
The problem is that for some reason the linker can not find your libxpm. It may just be that you don't have Xpm installed.
Try to do: emerge xpm and then rerun the failing build.

Yeah, cheers. Thats done it.
I used qpkg -f /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so and it said x11-base owned it. I did a search of this and indeed it seemed to be owed by xfree, yet I'd installed xfree and this lib hadnt been created.
The /usr/portage/profiles/use.desc has no mention of xpm so I dont think its a [direct] use flag!!
I tried [color=blue]emerge -s "*Xpm*" and of course this was unsuccessful - case sensitive!!
Ah well, its working now. How did you know that there was a separate xpm package, and not to look in xfree where I was digging!!??
TIA
