21 : Selected disk does not exist
This error is returned if the device part of a device- or full file name refers to a disk or BIOS device that is not present or not recognized by the BIOS in the system.

I need some screencaps of lxnay's RR4 (2.21) in action, to setup a website for the Best Damn LiveCD around

If anyone wants to create some nice screenshots and send them to me I'd be eternally grateful :)

send them to gserack(at)gmail.com

Odd things are afoot at the circle K...

Firstly,
I can't seem to boot the 2.21 CD into the GUI... I'm trying it on a machine with two lcd monitors (one DVI and one VGA) on an nVidia 5200 fx and when it starts X it goes blank.

Odd. Anyone have an NVidia card and get this to work?

Secondly,
I wanted to try and install it to the HD, but I had problems after copying it to the HD when running emerge sync. Any ideas?

What a splendid LiveCD :)

I had a little problem with keyboard mappings ! It seems impossible to switch keyboard mapping once you're in Gnome, Kde or XFCE. I had to boot without XORG, use loadkeys to load my french keyboard, change /etc/rc.conf and then run xinit to go into Gnome.

it's not a big problem once you figure out this little trick, but it took me an hour our two before using this method :)

Another thing is that Kde windows do not have title bars and thus are not moveable. The problem is that some windows appear out of screen boundaries. Am I the only one with this problem ?

Anyway, this LiveCD is excellent and I guess it will become my setup media from now on :)

Regards,

Daniel

I have exactly the same problem in KDE.

Fixed that... Turns out that it doesn't like both monitors hooked up at the same time for the auto-config stuff... odd.

Anyway, lxnay-> Do you have the /var/cache/edb directory availible somewhere for 2.21?

Thanks,
Garrett

No I'm sorry, but if you want, you should wait 2.30 LiveCD, when I'll upload it I'll put /var/cache entries too (in a separate file).
This is the first step to RR4 LiveCD Installer.

With 2.30 there will be video card auto detection, so please past me this output, if you want that your video card will be supported:
Code:
cat /proc/fb0/vbe_info

I need an AMD64 laptop now (if you want to donate one :p), AMD64 version will be out together with x86-32 install DVD.

That's the preliminary changelog of 2.30:
Code:
A little restyiling have been done
updated clamav to 0.81
added support for a lot of v4l and dvb devices
added VIDEO CARD DETECTION AND CONFIGURATION
added nvidia-kernel-6629
added nvidia-glx-6629

If you want to solve this bug, it's caused by a problem in xorg i think, if you look in Xorg.0.log you will see that there are problems with XKB (you have to comment out the line in xorg.conf beforce --> xkbdisable

lxnay,

Thanks for the information. I'll try to have a look, but i'm far from being a guru. So if I'm lucky enough, I'll find something :) Otherwise, I'll stick with the "buggy" version without too much problem.

Thanks for your answer and all the time you spend making this project !

Daniel

No I'm sorry, but if you want, you should wait 2.30 LiveCD, when I'll upload it I'll put /var/cache entries too (in a separate file).
This is the first step to RR4 LiveCD Installer.

With 2.30 there will be video card auto detection, so please past me this output, if you want that your video card will be supported:
Code:
cat /proc/fb0/vbe_info

How long for 2.30... I rebuilt one linux box into a server last week, and I had already wiped #2... now it's waiting for an OS... I'm running day-to-day off the 2.21 CD... irritating not being able to emerge anything :)

I'll leave my other two until I can get an installable RR4...

That's the preliminary changelog of 2.30:

WOW.

I'm glad that version of mplayer made it in... I've been told it plays dvr-ms files from my Windows Media Center PVR.

Pending: ivtv --> it doesn't compile with 2.6.10

Hmmm. are we getting close to including something like MythTV in RR4 ?

lxnay -> I know you are **busy**, so don't sweat this too much...

I was wondering if you have an ebuild for the latest kernel you have done.

and/or a RR4 2.30 releast date?

Thanks,

G

G

maybe in next releases, I'm asking to netvandal, amdplanet.it admin, if he can help me, so I'll be able to focus on some cool features.

prime impressioni

How do I put the lxnay livecd on my hard disk? It would be cool to just click "install on my HD", and voila 2.30 would be on my system. I like your release BTW!

The day lxnay implements this, Vidalinux and all the so-called "graphical, easy to install" Gentoo clone distros will die a very quick death. Hahaha!
