When I run mirrorselect, it does not allow me to select any mirror.
It goes directly back to the console, and prints "Mirrors set successfully".
Even worse, it writes pages of digits and characters in /etc/make.conf. |

Works now, after I booted the actual system. Obviously there was some problems when I was running the liveCD.
I had to download the kernel at 10k/s from the ibiblio server to Finland though. |

Finnish,
I heard someone say the same thing on IRC yesterday. Please file it as a bug at bugs.gentoo.org.
For anyone else referencing this thread you can insert mirrors in /etc/make.conf. Here's an example that would have worked well for Finnish: Code: | GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://sunsite.dk/mirrors/gentoo/ ftp://gentoo.linux.no/pub/gentoo " |

I posted the same problem to the Installing forum, here's the URL:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=35054
anyways, I'm dl'ing the livecd for i686 again, since the first copy failed the md5 check. I burned the image anyways, and then ran into problems with mirrorselect, so I chalked it up to a bad image... |
