Just wondered if there is any way to record realvideo streams under linux. Also if there was any better program than realplayer?
Any help would be appriciated

unfortunately I know of now known way. realplayer uses rtsp (real-time streaming protocol) but has a particular authentication hash which has not been reverse engineered (In part because of DMCA fears) but if you are outside of the states or know someone who is maybe you could convince them to try and figure it out. There was a discussion on slashdot a few months ago about it specificly under the post about Real's releasing the source for their server. Seems that some people had narrowed down the possibilities if you want to give it a try. |
