Hi there,
i just installed the gentoo-macosx.dmg on my Computer.
Now the 'emerge system' fails with the following output:
Code: | wintermute:/etc root# emerge system
Calculating system dependencies \
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "sys-apps/coreutils" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-apps/coreutils-5.2.1-r2 (masked by: missing keyword)
- sys-apps/coreutils-5.2.1-r3 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)
- sys-apps/coreutils-5.2.1-r4 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "sys-devel/gnuconfig-20040214" [ebuild])
!!! Problem with ebuild net-misc/wget-1.9.1-r2
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.
!!! Depgraph creation failed.
wintermute:/etc root# |
The following keywords are written in /etc/make.conf
Code: | # The Architecture
ARCH="ppc"
# The next generation KEYWORD, including architecture, userland, kernel and libc
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc-macos" |
Any hints?
The handbook says...
~arch keyword means that the application is not tested sufficiently to be put in the stable branch. Wait a few days or weeks and try again.
But I think there should be a way to install the base system... I don't want to wait any longer...

Make the following directory
/etc/portage/profile
in this directory create a file called package.provided and put the following in it:
sys-devel/libperl-5.8.1
dev-lang/perl-5.8.1
sys-devel/automake-1.6.3
sys-devel/autoconf-2.57
sys-devel/m4-1.4
sys-apps/coreutils-0.0.0
Alternatively you could emerge -i each of those lines, but that method is deprecated. |

Yeah! That did it! You made my day!
Where did you get those information from? Installation Handbook? Gentoo OS X Wiki? It'd be nice, if you could show me where you've got this.

Gentoo OS X Wiki have a Guide for installation of Gentoo on Mac OSX, and it is very well explained. I had some problem but the guide helps me a lot.
If you have some problem with a package massked by keyword use the command ekeyword included on the getoolkit-dev package. |
