libxml2 won't compile! help?

libxml2 that is needed for the kde desktop environment won't compile.
It gives this error:

!!! ERROR: dev-libs/libxml2-2.4.24 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 26, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

I have read in the forum that maybe the 2.4.26 version does compile without problems. Can someone confirm this? Anyway if it will do the trick, can someone give the mirror for it and the commands how to install it?
