|

Hi!
After starting up X/gdm everything works fine, until .. I switch to a text-console using ALT+F1 - when switching back to X with ATL+F7 X is frozen, the only thing still working is the mouse. I can neither switch back to a text-console, nor restart X using CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE . I have to poweroff my computer completely by using the power-button.
Anyone any ideas what might be causing this behavior?

What drivers are you using for Xfree... and do you have a framebuffer installed in the kernel?
I had the same problem with framebuffer and nvidia drivers for Xfree (I was also using the nvidia framebuffer...)
Works fine now with the Nvidia driver for Xfree and the normal Vesa framebuffer in the kernel...

Stupid me, forgot ... here's my config:
X 4.2.0-r9 on a Sony Vaio GRX316 with a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500.
modules loaded: pex5,record,extmod,dbe,dri,glx,xie,xtrap,type1,speedo
no framebuffer mode, no special options set on the Device Card0 (the Radeon is named as "M7 LW" here). I'm running X at 1600x1200x16 |
