commands not found after stage 3 install

stage 3 install:
typed:
emerge sync
emerge -up world
emerge -u world

some hours later:
typed:
emerge -up world agai
=>
bash : emerge: command not found
env-update && source /etc/profile
=>
bash : env-update: command not found
Maybe something went wrong after remounting the partitions after
I did a reboot?

I doubt it, but you can type 'mount' to see what's mounted up at the moment, see if that gives you any clues.
