Get your Q3 CD. Put it in drive, mount it. mkdir /usr/local/games/quake3
Copy the baseq3 dir from your CD to /usr/local/games/quake3/baseq3
Obtain linuxq3apoint-1.32.x86.run and fun script as root. Point the script to /usr/local/games/quake3. Play quake. Place your old autoexec.cfg and q3config.cfg from Windows in ~/.q3a/baseq3 to save you reconfiguring everything again. If you're like me, your config is very tweaked. Don't forget to emerge qstat and xqf so you won't miss gamespy at all. _________________ MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

Wrong, the ebuild works fine, you just sometimes have to open your eyes :)
Read what the ebuild printed after finishing, which tells you to put the pak0.pk3 from your quake3 cd or your windows quake3 installation into /opt/quake3/baseq3 and everything works fine. Or if you have a windows quake installation just symlink the pak0.pk3. |

Hmm.. but the demo should run fine if pak0.pak isn't in baseq3/ .. think this is not due to the lack of pak0.pak :)
then again.. what do I know... I'm just a newbie :)

I finally got round to downloading the quake demo and
copied the file as suggested.
Things still don't work for me and the error message is basically the same
although it does find the pak0 file.
