|
|
Upgraded kernel to 2.4.19-gentoo-r10 from r9.
I have EMU10K1 compiled in as I always had.
But the audio is gone. KDE gave an error message att startup. There is no info about the sound card in KDE Info Center.
I am not using the Alsa drivers. Anything need to be recompiled? |

OSS shouldn´t be necessary, or? It has worked before with only the EMU10K1 driver. |

OK, so I enabled OSS and ES1371, and the sound works! Trying to disable ES1371, shouldn´t have anything to do with the problem, and recompiling.
EDIT: it´s working fine without ES1371. I didn´t believe OSS had anything to do with this EMU10K1 driver, obviously is does. Just can´t recall using anything else than this driver before. |

AFAIK, all audio drivers in the kernel are OSS (2.5 is making the switch to ALSA, I think). |

if your using ALSA... anytime you recompile the kernel.. you need to re-emerge alsa! Try that.. |

When you use the kernel driver for Sblive (emu10k1) for example, you need to have also the OSS emulation module ! It's like that I can get sound with my sblive. |
