|
|
Hi!
I've just made a clean stage2 install. Now, when a try to emerge xfree I get (after awhile) a device full, exitcode 2, message. My partitions are:
boot: 20Mb
root: 1400Mb
swap: 200Mb
I got 512Mb of ram. I don't know which partition that got full, but I think it was the root one, becouse it happend while writing a font file.
I guess I could use the GRP-version of X, but I rather not, and i don't won't to change the partition size.
Anyone know a solution to this? Maybe a way to tell emerge to use less diskspace will compiling? |

X (among other things) takes up TONS of space during compilation. Probably 2G for the / partition should be considered a minimum for installing it. You may be able to sqeeze out a little more space by clearing out /tmp, /var/tmp, and other packages from /usr/portage/distfiles. _________________ "An empty head is not really empty; it is stuffed with rubbish. Also make sure / is really mounted on your 1400MB partition. I recently was installing Gentoo 1.4 RC2 and ran out of space on the install using:
200MB /root
14.5GB /
256MB swap
15 gig and I'm out of space?!? Turned out I'd accidently reversed my / and swap partitions when mounting them. Doh! _________________ Another fine missive from Slyvr |
