There have been a number a lengthy threads discussing the proper compile options for Pentium-m processors. For anyone considering these questions Anandtech just published an article benchmarking the Pentium-m against its fellow Intel chips and comparing the effects of different compile flags on Linux. |

That's because the pentium-m has a shorter pipeline, much like the AMD chips have a shorter pipeline than the intel ones, and can get more per clock.
A pentium m is basically a pentium 3 with uber cache and a beefed up clock rate/fsb.
