Hello who has run X11 on an Indy, i have installed the base System and xorg-x11. But I don't know what for an graphics driver i should use . Pleas Help me

I think there are many different cards that can be used on your system.

You can also take a look at SGI R4k "Indy" website to see if you can find the name and chipset of the graphics card.

The only functional card for SGI Indy that works in Linux is Newport, a.k.a., the XL card. The XZ (Extreme) card will not function. Similarly, on Indigo2, Impact cards will also not work.

When you first fire up the box, go into the PROM Monitor shell, and type hinv.

If it tells you you've got XL (Newport) 8 or 24-bit graphics, you should be fine using the newport graphics driver. There are example XF86Config-4 and xorg.conf configs you can use as a starting config. :-)

Anything else, you're out of luck. Unfortunately SGI have been particularly tight-lipped about some of their old hardware, and therefore there's no drivers for those graphics framebuffers.
