this isn't a Guideline violations, duplicates or misplaced post... More along the lines of a suggestion.
Is it possible to have a sticky thread where it says what games need the original disk or extra bits that aren't on portage? Part of this thread could then be made into a games section in the Gentoo Documentation repository. _________________ https://otw20.com/ OTW20 The new place for off the wall chat |

or how about having an extra USE flag called say USECD
That way when you do say a emerge ut2004 -vp it will list the USECD flag and thus you know it needs the CD's _________________

Perhaps something similar to fetch restriction? Or is there already something like that, I must admit I haven't tried. |

what about a section in portage where you need extra information not on portage games-extra or something along those lines.
Perhaps the best way isn't playing with portage but having it in documentation, i could do a page for swift if people wrote down which games (like Descent 3) needed other files from a different source. _________________ https://otw20.com/ OTW20 The new place for off the wall chat |

Good idea. This could be as simple as appending "Needs CD" to the short description in the ebuild. |
