I tried with different CFLAGS and it just failed with
-march=i686 -Os -pipe
Please, someone, have a clue, I've tried compiling 3 times |

I have KDE 3.1 installed without a hitch.
When was the last time you did emerge -u world?
I suggest that you run this rather than just -u kde.
It looks like it is related either to glibc or gcc, the c-compiler.

well, i've now tried it with
CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O1 -pipe"
with
gcc-3.2.1-r7
gcc-3.2.1 and
gcc-3.2.1-r6
I do have some of the unstable stuff installed and kde wants to downgrade a few, so i guess thats my next action |

alright, so i kind of figured it out. I did
export DO_NOT_COMPILE"konsole"
to tell kde not to compile konsole and everything else comiled and merged, so i can get to a 3.1 desktop, but i (obviously) don't have konsole, which kinda sucks. I just wonder why everything but konsole would compile. |
