Anybody know when the sparc keyword is going to be added to the kde 3.1 ebuild? I just finished reinstalling gentoo after upgrading the hard drive on my ultra 5 and I'd like to use KDE, but it takes so long to build that I don't want to build RC6 only to have 3.1 final be available later. |

Yes, I know it's out, and that's why I'm asking when the ebuild is going to be updated with the sparc keyword. I'd just like to know if this is something that's going to take a month or a few days. "emerge kde" takes like 3 days to complete so I don't want to install RC6 if the ebuild will be updated in a few days. |

The ebuilds should be updated to have the keyword ~sparc (need to have ACCEPT_KEYWORD uncommented and correctly defined in your /etc/make.conf to use this) by the end of the week. |

I'm already merging KDE 3.1 on my sparc. I edited the ebuilds myself to add ~sparc to kdebase/kdelibs 3.1, and arts. I also modified the QT 3.1.1 ebuild to use -no-stl and -no-xinerama, as per a bug report that states KDE compile fails if QT is built with -stl. I have no idea what 'stl' is or does, but my machine is currently on kdebase 3.1, so if that compiles, I'll test it and report my results here.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll hold off on installing kde for a few days. |

Took several days to compile on my Ultra10, but it seems to work ok. I had a lot of konqueror crashes with the last RC that I built (rc2), but I haven't experienced them yet with the Final. I couldn't wait for the keyword to be added, so I did it myself. |
