|Yes, this has been added to Portage *grin* (I love being able to say
that). You can define mirrors in
/usr/portage/profiles/thirdpartymirrors, and use them as follows:
The work on this code was spearheaded by Ryan Phillips, so props to Ryan
for working with me on getting it in there. Format for the
thirdpartymirrors file is:
<keyword> mirror1 [mirror2]...
Multiple mirrors will be tried in-order. Please remember that this
feature appears in (if memory serves) Portage 1.9.11, so you can bet
that a very large number of people aren't running it yet. It may be
best to add mirror:// support only after we've officially phased out
