Nice and easy this one
Go hunt for your subwoofer under your desk, turn it round so you can see the wires, now unplug the ORANGE wire. Done!
When you want to use an application that has support for all speakers (i know some windows DVD players do) plug the wire back in.

By default, drivers dont use the central 5th speaker for general output, it doesnt make a peep unless a program has built in support for it, I have only seen this support in WinDVD and PowerDVD. With the central speaker; music sounds a LOT better IMO. |

I always do this when in linux, just unplug back speakers, center & woofer. That way I get "sort of" surround sound . But it isn't true that all the speakersets automagically start outputting to all the speakers. They have to support this. _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates...
