I did the prelink -afmR on my machine and I noticed there were a lot of error messages...and programs on my machine dont start any quicker than they did before. Below is the feedback prelink gives me:

| hi, first off wine is a lost cause when it comes to prelinking and you can allways expect errors when running prelink, as for the java errors someone else had the same problem.. so do a search. |

Thanks Ivorytiger for that thoroughly unhelpful post...I read that file thanks...thats how I found out how to prelink gentoo in the first place.
Port001 I expected some things not to work with prelink...I mainly did it for a speedup on x11 and kde, but it doesnt seem to be working there either...I will post this time the whole error file on it instead of just a snip. I will search the forums though, maybe the java problem can be applied to kde too. |

You're welcome anyhow. Since you didn't mention the documentation in your first post, I figured it would at least be useful in case you hadn't read it. Also, the person that put the documentation together used to have a blurb on there about wine not prelinking, so I again figured it would help to link to the documentation.
I'm sorry it wasn't more help, and maybe in the future I can prove more useful as I too learn new things about Gentoo from the other users and my own experiences.
