I have yet to find a good X ftp client on linux, igloo - buggy, gftp - REALLY buggy (try downloading a dir, personaly I can't even browse the home part), so I'm looking into download managers and such, cuz a good download manager with a site manager so I can browse ftp's would be even better.

anyone know of any :p

the few I'v seen that look interesting are
http://www.idata.sk/~ondrej/pavuk/
http://devel-home.kde.org/~caitoo/

and downloader for x (package nt in the portage tree).

though it's 4:30am now so I'm not gonna test any of em, anyone have any good / bad info on em? I'd really love one with a site manager, heh.

Downloader for X is OK.
Prozilla is a good download accelerator.
Of course, ncftp is a good console based client.

How in god's name do you install caitoo? It mocks me :(

Code:
checking for KDE... libraries /usr/kde/3/lib, headers /usr/kde/3/include
checking for extra includes... no
checking for extra libs... no
checking for KDE headers installed... configure: error: your system is not able to compile a small KDE application!
Check, if you installed the KDE header files correctly.

Ncftp is indeed very good... Midnight Commander (mc) also has FTP support.
As for downloading - wget is my favorite because it runs in the background. If any similar application has acceleration support, let me know.

D4x (nt) is very powerful, you can even grab whole sites with it.

It has a lot of features, but no documentation :\

1 trick: if you want to get file00.zip to file99.zip, do this:
copy the url, in nt do "auto download" (if file menu), than paste and replace the numbers with {00-99}.zip. Et voila.

For more info read the d4x forums @ http://www.krasu.ru/soft/chuchelo
