you can find more info in my ohter post "Error Message" But basically what happens is my boot hangs when trying to start syslogd.

anyone got ideas on this one ?

Ok just thought i should add the error to this post

/sbin/rc line 286: [: /etc/runlevels/default/*cron: binary operator expected

Replace the * with v run rc-update add vcron default.
Then restart vcron/syslogd (syslogd I thnk should restart when you restart vcron) using /etc/init.d/vcron restart
