I have svgalib installed, no /dev/svga and don't see that error. Does deleting the ~/.mplayer directory help (save custom configuration files first)?

svgalib: Cannot open /dev/svga

No matter if it's under X or not, /dev/svga still can not be open. Same things happens if I'm root.

BTW, -vo sdl works under X, but under console it gives
Code:
svgalib: Cannot open /dev/svga
What has sdl with svgalib to do??? And why does it work in X but not console??
Cheers![/code]

What happens if you use -vo xv ? I tried -vo svga and received "svgalib: Cannot get I/O permissions."

Well, under X:
Code:
vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
Disabling DPMS
It seems there is no Xvideo support for your video card available.
Run 'xvinfo' to verify its Xv support, and read Xv section of DOCS/video.html !
See 'mplayer -vo help' for other (non-xv) video out drivers. Try -vo x11
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

Exiting... (End of file)

And without X I guess I can't, since xv is a XVideo extension for X11.

If I run xvinfo, it'll say that:
Code:
jacob@qnx American Hi-Fi $ xvinfo
X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
 no adaptors present

Perhaps my Riva 128/ZX (yeye...I know....lol) is not supported by xv??

Oh...one more thing. It's not that I can't watch videos at all. Under X there are sereval drivers, (like x11, gl, gl2 and so on (actually only x11 is useful since the two last are OpenGL which my card has some problems to handle fast enough...)) and in console I can use fbcon . (But directfb still doesn't work, don't know why.) Same thing with svga, and since I just don't know why I don't have that damn /dev/svga (even if I have svgalib installed) I thought you guys can help me with it and so I can see if the performance is better in svga than, for instance, fbcon.....
