I'm having trouble getting the PCMCIA bridge to work on my HP Pavilion ze4115 laptop. Depending on what you believe (lspci, the manual, etc.), it's either an O2 Micro OZ6972 or an OZ6912.
When the kernel boots, the following appears:
Code: |
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 00:10.0. Please try using pci=biosirq.
|
...and when trying to use the drivers included in pcmcia-cs:
Code: |
# modprobe ds
/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: init_module: Operation not permitted
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod ds failed

What exactly do I have to do to get the PCMCIA on this laptop working?

In short: Write a driver. The pcmcia-cs stuff doesn't support the O2 Micro chipsets yet.
More info on the HP forums - here's one link. There's another discussion thread somewhere on the site that goes into much more detail.
