|
|
Hello!
I've finally built my new computer, and giong to take this one (PIII 800mhz, 512mb ram, 60GB, etc) and make it into a kinda server/router box for my home network.
This being said, i'm a almost total linux Newbie (i admit it) and was wondering what would make a good such setup & any suggestions for doing so?
I have two NIC's - one for the Cable modem (wan) and ione for local (LAN).
I would like to have this set it's ip to 192.168.0.1 (the ip of my old router) and become a DHCP server for any computers wanting internet access.
I would like to be able to direct ports and/or port ranges to certain computers, and have a default computer for stuff being sent to ports that i haven't chosen somewhere for.
It would be *really* cool to be able to monitor each comptuers usage at any given time, over a period of time, etc - Throttling them would be cool too!
I'd like to also set up a Webserver, Fileserver, etc , but thoes guides are prolly easy to find.
Thanks!
