/dev/hda is gone, lots of filesystem problems

the problems startd right after i upgraded to 2.4.20 kernel:
1. there are lots of /dev/pty*- entries, essentially duplicates of the normal /dev/pty* entries

2. A lot of ext3 filesystem corruption, i had to boot from the boot disk and from fsck on the discs.

3. now when i boot it says it cant find the superblock for /dev/hda1, 2 or 3, although /dev/hda3 is mounted ok as boot none of the /dev/hda* entries are there, therefore it cant turn the swap on or mount the /boot partition.

Apart from that the system works perfectly

boot from the iso and chroot into your system and recompile the kernel this time with apm instead of acpi , also just check to be sure you hav devfs support compiled into the kernel , as well as lookin to that messege about the chipset found but no support compiled into the kernel for it.....look for it under the ata,atapi,ide section of the kernel
